Student Placement
In order to achieve balance in classrooms and maximize learning for all students, the following criteria will be considered in assigning students to classes:
- Total number of students in each class
- Balance of boys and girls
- Distribution of ethnic groups
- A reasonable range of student achievement/leadership in each class
- Distribution of second language students students (where applicable to Bilingual Plan)
- Teaching style/students’ learning style/ compatibility
- SST referral
- Structure of the class (i.e., combination classes)
- Number of times a student has been in a combination class
- Retentions
- Separate some students for academic/behavior reasons
- Placed in special program or service (i.e., Resource, Title 1, EL learners, etc.)
Classes will be based on a 24 to 1 ratio in grades K-3 and on a 32 to 1 ratio in grades 4 ,5. and 6.
