Student Placement

In order to achieve balance in classrooms and maximize learning for all students, the following criteria will be considered in assigning students to classes:
  1. Total number of students in each class
  2. Balance of boys and girls
  3. Distribution of ethnic groups
  4. A reasonable range of student achievement/leadership in each class
  5. Distribution of second language students students (where applicable to Bilingual Plan)
  6. Teaching style/students’ learning style/ compatibility
  7. SST referral
  8. Structure of the class (i.e., combination classes)
  9. Number of times a student has been in a combination class
  10. Retentions
  11. Separate some students for academic/behavior reasons
  12. Placed in special program or service (i.e., Resource, Title 1, EL learners, etc.)
Classes will be based on a 24 to 1 ratio in grades K-3 and on a 32 to 1 ratio in grades 4 ,5. and 6.
