October / November 2011

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe it is already October!

This week we will have Data Works visiting our classes and working with our teachers to help us create lessons that include research –based strategies to support student engagement. Some of the strategies we are using are: Think Pair Share, asking students to answer using complete sentences, and asking students to explain their answers and their thoughts. If you would like more information about our work with Data Works, feel free to stop by.

A Big Thank You
We have so many hardworking and committed parents at Prunedale Elementary who help our students in so many ways. Some volunteer in the classrooms, some drive on field trips, some serve on committees and others work raising money for special activities, supplies, and assemblies.

One group of parents is spending valuable time organizing our Fall Festival. We need your help. Contact the PTG and offer your time and talents to make this festival a success.

Our Annual Fall Festival will be on:
Saturday, October 29, 2011
2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
here at Prunedale Elementary School

Parent Conferences
The Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November 9th, 10th, 17th and 18th. I hope all parents and guardians will be able to arrange to come in. The conference is a time for you to learn more about how your child is doing academically, socially, and emotionally. It is also a time when you can ask your child’s teacher questions and learn about the curriculum being taught. Your child’s teacher will contact you with information about these conferences.

Sincerely,
Margarita Palacios
